Getting started

What is Strikly?

Strikly is a knitting companion for your phone. Tell it what yarn you have, and it helps you find patterns you can actually make, follow them row by row, and keep your projects, stash, and notes organized in one calm place.

What devices does Strikly run on?

Strikly is a mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email, and your account is backed up so nothing is ever stuck on one device. Keeping your row position, progress, and annotations in step across devices as you knit is part of Premium.

How much does it cost?

The core app is free, and free features stay free. Premium unlocks the row-by-row Guide, cross-device sync, voice control, and the lock-screen widget for $19.99/year or $2.99/month, with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers.

Does Strikly connect to Ravelry?

Yes. Connect your Ravelry account and Strikly syncs your library, stash, and queue, and pulls in your profile so you can search and import Ravelry patterns right inside the app. A Ravelry account is only needed for those features — you can use Strikly perfectly well without one by importing your own pattern PDFs and adding yarn by hand.

The Guide

How does the row-by-row Guide work?

The Guide turns a pattern PDF into a clean, row-by-row walkthrough, already set to your size. It reads how a pattern is structured — the way a knitter would — and lays it out so you always know which row you’re on. The original PDF is always one tap away.

What if the Guide can’t read my pattern?

Some patterns parse more cleanly than others — unusual layouts, scans, and heavy formatting can trip it up. When that happens, your original PDF is always right there as the fallback, so you’re never stuck. If a pattern won’t cooperate, email [email protected] and we’ll take a look.

Does the Guide work with charts?

The row-by-row Guide covers written instructions. You can always view a pattern’s charts in the original PDF, and chart tracking is on the roadmap.

Can I use the Guide on patterns I didn’t buy through the app?

Yes. The Guide works on any pattern PDF you upload — not just patterns sourced through Ravelry. As long as you have the right to use the pattern, you can build a guide from it.

Does Strikly use AI?

No. The Guide is built on a deterministic parser — engineering, not AI. Nothing you upload is sent to an AI model or used to train one. If we ever add an AI feature, it will be clearly labeled and opt-in, and we’ll tell you first.

Do I need a subscription to use Strikly?

No. Pattern import is unlimited and free — and so are section navigation, counters (as many as you like, linked together), full two-way Ravelry sync, stash matching, your queue, annotations, and data export. Premium adds the row-by-row Guide, cross-device sync, “Hey Strikly” voice control, and the lock-screen widget — and downgrading never deletes anything you’ve made.

Subscriptions & billing

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, so you cancel through your app-store settings — not inside Strikly. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

  • Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Strikly → Cancel
  • Google: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Strikly → Cancel
What happens to my guides if I cancel?

They stay with you. Downgrading never deletes anything — your projects, row progress, notes, and the guides you’ve already built remain in your account, and your original PDFs are always available. You’d just need an active subscription again to build new guides.

What happens when my free trial ends?

If you don’t cancel before the 14-day trial ends, your subscription begins and you’ll be charged. You can cancel anytime during the trial at no cost.

Will my price go up later?

If we ever raise prices, we’ll honor the price you’re already paying for as long as your subscription stays active and uninterrupted. It’s a commitment we make voluntarily and intend to keep.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, so you’ll need to request one through whichever store you purchased from. We generally can’t issue refunds directly.

Your data & privacy

What do you do with my patterns and data?

We use your data only to run the app — storing and syncing your patterns, projects, stash, and photos across your devices. We don’t sell your data, and we never use your content to train any model. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

What happens if I lose my phone or get a new one?

Your patterns, projects, and progress are backed up to your account, not just your device. Sign in on a new phone and everything comes back — right where you left off.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. You can export your data anytime, and you can delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing us. Our account deletion page covers exactly what’s removed and how long it takes.

Can I upload any pattern I want?

Upload only patterns you have the right to use — ones you bought for personal use, made yourself, or are otherwise licensed to you. Strikly is a personal tool for organizing your patterns, not a place to share copyrighted ones. See the Terms of Service for details.

Community

What are the community features?

If you join the community, you can post and connect with other knitters. We keep it welcoming: hate speech and harassment aren’t allowed, and we use automated tools and member reporting to enforce our Community Guidelines.
